🥃 Liquor Shops by Hotel
Buy in town, not at the airport
Airport duty-free is worse value and creates a liquids problem at the Narita transfer on Sep 17. Buy bottles in the city, pack them in checked luggage, bubble wrap.

✈️ Getting It Home

Taipei → Sapporo (Sep 12, BR166): bottles must go in checked luggage. Japan admits 3 bottles (760 ml each) duty-free per person — keep the Taipei haul at or under that if you're also buying in Hokkaido.

Sapporo → home (Sep 17): US allowance is 1 liter duty-free per adult. Over that isn't prohibited — declare it and pay a small duty (typically a few dollars a bottle), usually cheaper than skipping the bottle.

CTS→NRT→EWR routing: airport duty-free liquids won't survive the Narita security re-screen unless sealed in a STEB bag with the receipt visible. Buy in town, pack checked, bubble wrap.
